Since first starting IEO with co-founder, Jari Kokko, Sven has been a tireless promoter of the sport. His love of the game and the Internet is no more apparent than in his work with IEO and participation on several IEO Teams.

After graduating from Weber State University with a double Bachelor degree in Applied Mathematics and German, Sven was hired by the Billiard Congress of America as the League and Program Assistant. There he developed, lead, and assisted with many BCA programs to including the BCA National League System, Junior Nationals, and Summer Kids Camp Programs.

A year an a half later he was promoted to Public Relations and Marketing Assistant where he developed and launched the BCA website and encouraged many BCA members to get on the web - often creating their pages for them.

His expertise in the area of Internet Publishing and Marketing eventually landed him his current position as On-line Coordinator for Luby Publishing, the Chicago based Magazine Publisher, publishers of Billiards Digest magazine.

A player member of the Billiard Congress of American, recognized Billiard Instructor, and accomplished billiard mechanic, Sven is also an Internet Consultant, an active member of the Association of Internet Professionals and freelance PERL programmer.

When not playing Billiards or working on the computer, he can be found pursuing his hobbies of Inline Skating, Mountain Biking, and Caving.

Mike Huang, IEO Programmer
C/C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, HTML, CGI, Java

After graduating from The University of Iowa in 1995, Mike was hired by the same university as a post-doctoral research associate. In 1996, he moved to Michigan to join the auto industry as a mechanical engineer and software developer.

Mike has been an enthusiast and a student of pool for many years. He played on the Billiard Congress of America IEO Team. With help from IEO project team member Mark Kulaga for the graphic artwork, he wrote the IEO Score Entering Form and Score Board. Jari Kokko, IEO Co-Founder
Unix programming & administration

Jari (pronounced "Ya'-ree") was a Computer Science student at the Helsinki University of Technology when he first started working on IEO. Having left the university he is currently employed as a software engineer and Unix administrator.

He started playing billiards in the summer of 1986 while in military training. Starting with pool he soon after fell in love with snooker, leaving pool almost completely for years. It wasn't until the spring of 1997 that he returned to the pool table. His addiction to snooker remains, and he is currently a contributor to WWW Snooker's Snooker Clinic due to the rules expertize gathered while playing and refereeing the game for more than a decade.

He sees pool and especially nine ball a most welcome relaxation to his almost Dilbertish professional life and Equal Offense as a unique phenomenon in the cue wielding world, not to mention an excellent practice method for all games.

In Equal Offense you don't get a second chance if you play a bad shot! This is a very humiliating awakening to the reality of billiard games for anyone who doesn't get to play superior opponents on a regular basis.

When IEO was founded, the Web as we know it didn't exist. It made sense in those days to use a text based chat room to communicate and share scores. No such software was available for IEO so Jari developed what was called the IEO Server.

Currently Min-Wei's work on the Web Interface has made IEO accessible to more people, but Jari finds it lacks some of the real time, hands-on feeling which was very much present in the original IEO Server.

When not playing Snooker or Pool, Jari likes to spend time with his closest friends. His other hobbies include hiking and go-kart racing, which he refuses to take seriously. He considers beating the track and himself more rewarding than racing others. His dream is to test drive an open wheel race car one day.

Tarl Roger Kudrick, IEO Statistical Analysis
Statistics

Tarl's a graduate student in personality psychology in Washington, D.C. He is one year away from a Ph.D. His extensive background in data analysis makes him a good choice to be teh official IEO statistician.

Tarl has been playing pool for six years now, but not in a row. His high score at Equal Offense is 109, and in 9-Ball, using the Accu-Stats method of scoring, he typically shoots between .660 and .710 on an amateur (5" pocket) table.

Mark Kulaga, IEO Graphic Artist
HTML, Desktop Publishing, Graphic Artist, Web Design

A freelance website designer and experienced desktop publisher with a strong background in graphic arts, Mark has made the IEO site appealing to the eye. His graphics wizardry can be seen throughout.

Asside from being a talented designer, he was also the Vice President of the United States Snooker Association 1996-98 and the Sports Director Elect of the United States Confederation of Billiard Sports 1996-98. Currently Mark is the Webmaster for SnookerUSA.

Mark has recently picked up programming in C/C++. His IEO high score is 140.

Asside from the web and cue sports, Mark enjoys playing Chess and fine cigars.

Wayland Marlow, IEO Public Relations
Public Relations, Physics, Statistics

Wayland is a graduate of Stanford University. Some call him Dr. Marlow, many call him by his nickname, Skip. He has been interested in pool forever. His IEO high score is 128.

The author and publisher of The Physics of Pocket Billiards, Wayland is also a scientist and program manager for the ThermoTrex Corporation. He lives on Maui, and plays at the Maui Cue in Kahului, Hawai'i.

Wayland can provide you with assistance in getting your IEO Tournament some notoriety. Please feel free to contact him for any help getting your IEO team together and/or promoting your local IEO events.

Wayland hobbies range from checkers to sailing, with much in between.
